The joy of home ownership. Had a pin hole in the hot water pipe coming out of the water heater into the house turn into a water spout behind the walls of my master bathroom. After a days worth of work, I was able to find it and repair it. Of course, this was only after taking out the water heater, ripping out the wall board behind it, and checking up the pipe. This also showed that it had been a small leak over a long time, as the studs on the floor were black from rot and the wall boards in the bath were water logged and damaged. I ended up removing all the walls, replacing the bad wood, removing tile, etc. A leaky pipe has turned into a forced remodel of the master bath. Tonight (I hope), I will put the third coat of joint compound (watered down) on the replaced wall board out in the water heater space, paint it up, and put the water heater back in, restoring hot water to that side of the house. Then, I get to figure out what I am going to do with the bathroom.
